Description of neighbourhood: Centrum - Chasse

The area of Chassé (Breda Centre) is composed of two parts that are very different. East of Vierwindenstraat is the Zuidpoort-Passage with a few streets and houses. The Zuidpoort-Passage is attached to the Nieuwe Ginnekenstaat and the Cootplein. This part is very attractive thanks to the shops, restaurants, terraces and architecture of the historical Breda. Next to it is situated a neighbourhood inside the city, with many small streets. West of the Vierwindenstaat is the spacious Chassé Park (about 13 ha.) with animated parks and places. This is a new area with about 600 owner occupied houses and a 100 to rent. There are also a few high buildings with what are named park apartments. At the edge of the Chassé Park, in the formerly Kloosterkazerne, is situated the Holland Casino. On the other side you will find the pop temple Mezz. In the Chassé live about 2600 people.
Here follows a description of the three most common types of residents. The description is based on an average of stereotypes and thus it is very possible that you can not identify yourself with any.
