Description of neighbourhood: Centrum - Fellenoord

The formerly popular neighbourhood Fellenoord (Centre Breda) has been totally reconstructed in the 80s of the last century; the living area is densely constructed. There is a clear separation between the not renovated part and the area where the houses have been replaced in the 80s with the city renovation project. In this neighbourhood there are still parts of streets that are remains of history. In Fellenoord there are strong family bonds and a strong neighbourhood bond. Fellenoord has about 1.500 inhabitant.

“De actieve trendvolger” likes to go out. This type has a focus on body & health, goes to the Gym and is active in squash or skiing. TV stations like TMF/MTV and Radio538 are listened to very often, so they stay informed on nowadays smashing hits! And of course they read trendy magazines to keep informed about everything that is new & trendy.

“De sociale senior” is frequently living alone. This type is 55 years and above, but generally a little older. They frequently live in a smaller house. Because this type often no longer works (fulltime) they have generally an average or below average income.

Lifestyle
A sober life style is characteristic for “De sociale senior”. Playing bridge, handwork or making puzzles is alternated with voluntary work. They are working hard to remain healthy. The magazines they read are Plus (magazine for older people), magazines about health and Het Beste. The radio is tuned to Radio1, 4 and 747 AM.

c. Independant student 3%

“De zelfstandige student” is generally a student who no longer lives at home. And sometimes he/she is just finished studying starting a first job, but is still living life like a student. They live in a smaller (shared) house or apartment, because their income is still low. They move a lot.

Lifestyle
“De zelfstandige student” still lives in the city and enjoys city life. They go out to café's, concerts, theatre, cinema and disco's. Besides the student gathers a lot of information by reading books and magazines, but also the Internet is a great source of information. The student is sport-loving and fond of travelling. Happy to discover new things.
