Description of neighbourhood: Centrum - Station
The Spoorbuurt (neighbourhood of the railways) or also called Station (Breda Centre) is situated between Singel and the railway. The neighbourhood is bordering the wonderful park of Valkenberg, which separates this part from the inner city. Most of the buildings have been constructed in the 19th century. There are many families that have good relationships with each other. In the west side of the Spoorbuurt live mostly ‘starters’. The east side is mostly occupied by the Oranjeboom Bierbrouwerij (beer brewery). In this area is a supermarket and about 1.100 people live there.

Socio-demograghic
“De actieve trendvolger” are singles or families without children. They live in a flat or apartment. They have an average or below average income, and they spent their money well thought of. Generally they have followed a midlevel (MBO-HBO) education.
Lifestyle
“De actieve trendvolger” likes to go out. This type has a focus on body & health, goes to the Gym and is active in squash or skiing. TV stations like TMF/MTV and Radio538 are listened to very often, so they stay informed on nowadays smashing hits! And of course they read trendy magazines to keep informed about everything that is new & trendy.
b. Assertive citizen 19%
Socio-demograghic
The mostly young “Zelfbewuste stedeling” is relatively often single or at least living alone. They have completed a high education, but have still a relatively low (starters) income. They generally live in a rented house in the city.
Lifestyle
The city is the ideal operating base, providing in all their needs. Cinema, café, concert, disco, but also museums and theatre for some art and culture are within arms reach. Besides they love hockey, skiing and water sports. “De zelfbewuste stedeling” buys many books and expensive informative magazines.

“De zelfstandige student” is generally a student who no longer lives at home. And sometimes he/she is just finished studying starting a first job, but is still living life like a student. They live in a smaller (shared) house or apartment, because their income is still low. They move a lot.
Lifestyle
“De zelfstandige student” still lives in the city and enjoys city life. They go out to café's, concerts, theatre, cinema and disco's. Besides the student gathers a lot of information by reading books and magazines, but also the Internet is a great source of information. The student is sport-loving and fond of travelling. Happy to discover new things.
