Description of neighbourhood: Oost - Zandberg
The district Zandberg (Breda East) was created in the 30s of the last century and has grown into an attractive, Burgundian area. It geographic location is excellent. On one side it borders the attractive Wilhelmina park with the Wilhelmina pond. On the other side it borders the attractive and with many shops Ginnekenweg (Ginneken street). Besides the area is at a short distance from the interesting Ginneken and the inside of the city of Breda. This area can be divided into three parts: a neighbourhood of villas, middle class houses and an area that has been renovated. On the area where a monastery used to be, new houses have been constructed. Zandberg has about 5.200 inhabitants.
Here follows a description of the three most common types of residents. The description is based on an average of stereotypes and thus it is very possible that you can not identify yourself with any.

“De actieve trendvolger” are singles or families without children. They live in a flat or apartment. They have an average or below average income, and they spent their money well thought of. Generally they have followed a midlevel (MBO-HBO) education.
Lifestyle
“De actieve trendvolger” likes to go out. This type has a focus on body & health, goes to the Gym and is active in squash or skiing. TV stations like TMF/MTV and Radio538 are listened to very often, so they stay informed on nowadays smashing hits! And of course they read trendy magazines to keep informed about everything that is new & trendy.
b. Conscious hedonist 29%
Socio-demograghic
“Conscious hedonist” is at least middle aged. Generally they have older children still living at home or already out of the house. They have completed a higher education and belong to the upper social classes. The high income ensures that the “De bewuste Bourgondiër” can enjoy life without any financial limits.
Lifestyle
“Conscious hedonist” enjoys life to the max! Culture, antiques, investments, luxury cars, theatre, art, bridge, a political discussion and of course a good bottle wine can endure the approval of this bourgondiër. Especially golf, hockey, tennis, skiing and sailing are popular sports. They read much: a good book or an informative article.
c. Cultural country man/woman 15%
Socio-demograghic
“Cultural country man/woman” is no starter anymore. Often are they (older) singles/single living people. They have completed a higher than average education, but do not have an extremely high income.
Lifestyle
“De culturele buitenmens” is strongly involved socially. He/she is aware of the surroundings and the environment and is also prepared to contribute to society. They are interested in art, culture, concert, museums and theatre. “De culturele buitenmens” likes reading. Especially books, quality newspapers and magazines about living and peoples perceptions on live. Do not confuse them with country people! “Buitenmens” because they are little at home.
